Website Care Plan FAQs
The Essential Care plan is just that: what you need to keep your website running healthy and at its best. The Premier Care plan covers everything the Essential Care plan does, plus gives you a couple of hours of our time per month for improvements, bug fixes, or any other development requests, plus a 10% discount for larger requests in excess of those initial two hours.
The Premier Care plan is available for website owners only. Sorry, but agencies are not eligible for the Premier Care plan.
No, included hours in the Premier Care plan must be used within the month or they will expire.
Available plugin and theme updates are applied twice per week. Security vulnerabilities in WordPress core, plugins, and themes are applied within 1 business day of patches becoming available. Major WordPress core version releases are applied within three business days, after testing for stability.
We preview all WordPress core, plugin, and theme updates on a staging copy of your website first to make sure there are no issues. However, if in the unlikely event a bad plugin update makes it to your website’s live instance and causes problems, we can quickly roll back to the previous, working version, and investigate the cause of the conflict on a non-live copy of your website.
In order to be able to effectively apply plugin updates when they become available, we do not permit clients to install plugins on their websites themselves, and have disabled the ability to do so. If you wish to have a plugin installed on your website, please send us the link to the plugin on the WordPress plugin repository or, for premium plugins, the credentials to your account on the plugin’s website. We will be happy to install and activate the plugin on your website once we’ve had a chance to vet it for authenticity, functionality, and security.
We don’t want to reveal all of our security practices, but a few things we do include:
- Limit access to the website administration to users within the United States (if you need access from other countries, just ask, and we’ll make that available)
- Change the URL to log into the site from the WordPress default to one that is unique to your website
- Lock out IP addresses that repeatedly attempt to break into the website with multiple failed login attempts
We perform daily security checks to look for issues such as plugin or core vulnerabilities. Additionally, we offer the option to apply a web application firewall (WAF) to provide an additional layer of protection before malicious traffic hits your website (additional charge applies).
The measures we take to secure your website mean hacks and breaches are extremely unlikely. However, in the unlikely event of a successful hack or breach, we will work with you to identify the vulnerability, restore from backup, and verify that the code on your website—including WordPress core and plugins—are clean and malware-free.
We provide agency licenses to three popular premium plugins: Advanced Custom Fields PRO, Gravity Forms, and Smush Pro (that’s over $100 per year in value!). In addition, we may apply additional premium plugins to facilitate our maintenance services for which we also have agency licenses. Any other licenses for premium plugins in use on the website are the responsibility of the client.
While we recommend our Essential Care plan to keep your website running its very best, we do have stand alone hosting options available. Get in touch.
Fill out our maintenance and hosting interest form. Let us know a little bit about your website, and about yourself. Create an administrator account on your website for us so we can evaluate your website’s current condition. We will return a brief report with recommendations and an estimate to bring your website up to date and into our Care plan.
While we do not offer bulk rates for multiple websites, a WordPress multisite installation might make sense. Get in touch, and we’ll look at your situation to see if multisite is the right fit.
We hate to see you go, but we understand that sometimes circumstances change. Just give us 30 days written notice (email is fine).
